What to see
The first must-see is the striking coral reef, considered among the most beautiful in the world. An excursion to the Dolphin House lets you get up close and personal with dolphins, while Wadi Gimal National Park features a collection of dreamlike atolls. Those who are instead passionate about archaeology can visit the Temple of Horus built over two millennia ago.
Best beaches
The beaches are another of the most interesting features of Marsa Alam. Among these, Abu Dabab beach has marvellous resorts and is distinguished for its numerous giant tortoises. El Quseir also deserves mention, as one of the most tranquil beaches to ever exist and an ideal place for long snorkelling sessions. Abu Ghusun is a typical beach of the Red Sea and is perfect for a family holiday, while Berenice offers a sensation of absolute peace.
