The carriage of pets must meet certain basic conditions and comply with animal protection law and import and export regulations of the relevant countries. Pet animals mean only and exclusively dogs, cats and ferrets. All other species, such as wild animals, reptiles and rodents may only be transported by cargo.

NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS

Animals may be carried in the cabin or hold of the aircraft, depending on their weight and size. If the weight of the animal, including the cage or carrier, does not exceed 10 kilograms, you are allowed to transport them in the cabin. This applies to cats or small dogs. However, if the weight of the animal, including the cage or carrier, exceeds 10 kilograms, transportation is authorised in the hold of the aircraft, which is pressurised and ventilated. In both cases, carriage is subject to the following conditions:

the cage used for transporting pets in the cabin can be either rigid or soft, as long as it is approved. It should have a waterproof bottom, good ventilation, and should not be able to be opened from the inside. The size of the cage should be suitable to ensure the comfort of the animal, with dimensions complying with the maximum measurements allowed according to the IATA standard: 48cmx35cmx29cm) Only 1 pet allowed per passenger.
the cage for transport in the hold must be rigid. It should have a waterproof bottom, good ventilation, and should not be able to be opened from the inside. The size of the cage should be suitable to ensure the comfort of the animal (maximum measurements allowed for loading through the opening of the aircraft hold 100cmx85cmx75cm).
the animal's health booklet must be presented during check-in. Prior to your trip, it is important to gather information about the necessary veterinary certificates and vaccinations for your destination. Additionally, within the European Union, dogs, cats, and ferrets must have a health passport in order to travel between EU countries. This document must include the personal data of the animal, a photograph and detailed information about the requirements for rabies vaccination certification and any other relevant information.

ATTENTION: the cages for the carriage of animals in the hold and cabin must be IATA approved. Staff at check-in will carry out a thorough check that all safety requirements are met. Otherwise, the carriage of the animal may be denied.

The cost for boarding animals is as follows: €100 for each animal in the cabin (maximum weight of 10 kg, including the cage) and €200 for each animal in the hold. You can purchase this service either during the booking process or by accessing the "MY BOOKING" section up to 48 hours before your flight. INDICATIONS FOR THE CARRIAGE OF POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DOGS AND ANIMALS WITH SNUB NOSES

The carriage of dogs considered potentially dangerous is not allowed on Neos flights (either in the hold and cabin).

The following breeds are considered to be potentially dangerous dogs: American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull, Argentinean Fighting Dog, Argentinean Mastiff, Brazilian Fighting Dog, Brazilian Mastiff, Fila Brasileiro, Japanese Tosas, Pit Bull Terriers, Toga Argentinos, Tosa Inu, Tosa Fighting Dog, Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Brachycephalic breeds (with a snubbed nose) experience high risk of respiratory and heat issues when being carried by air, due to the strain of flying. Therefore, these pets can only travel in the cabin, as long as they weigh no more than 10 kg, including their carrier. Additionally, they must not be on the list of completely prohibited breeds.

CARRIAGE OF GUIDE DOGS

Guide dogs for blind and deaf passengers are transported free of charge. They are allowed in the cabin, limited to one per flight and must wear a muzzle. You must inform the airline in advance if you need to fly with this type of dog. You can do so at your agency or, if you made a direct purchase, by contacting the Neos Chat Service available 24 hours/24, 7 days/7, within 48 hours before the flight departure. Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) do not fall into this category.

CHINA

Animal transportation is not permitted on all flights to / from CHINA.

UNITED ARAB EMIRATES UAE

State law prohibits the entry of animals with the passenger in the UAE. Therefore any requests of this kind can not be confirmed.

JAMAICA

The introduction of domestic animals to Jamaica is forbidden.

INDIA

On all flights to/from INDIA, the transport of animals is not allowed, neither in the cabin nor in the hold.

ICELAND

It is not permitted to transport dogs and cats to Iceland in aircraft passenger compartments. This does not apply to certified service dogs and pets that are transiting in Keflavik airport. Only transport in the hold is authorized.

KENYA

The transport of dogs and cats by the passenger to Kenya is subject to the following requirements:

Veterinary certificate of good health of the animal;
Rabies vaccination certificate issued in the country of origin for at least one month and not more than one year prior to entry into Kenya;
Import permit issued by the Embassy of Kenya in Italy (valid - for one trip and up to 30 days from date of issue)

For other animals require only a certificate of good health.

MAURITIUS

From Milan Malpensa and Rome Fiumicino pets are NOT allowed in the cabin (PETC).

Animals in the hold (AVIH) are accepted following thorough checks and veterinary quarantine procedures on arrival.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

If you are bringing a dog to the United States, starting from 1 August 2024, there are new steps you need to follow for the dog's entry into the U.S., as specified by U.S. authorities to prevent the risk of spreading canine rabies. These steps depend on whether the countries your dog has been during the last 6 months are considered low or high risk. Click here for detailed information and to apply for a CDC Dog Import Form. A receipt will be emailed to you upon submission of the CDC Dog Import Form. You will need to either print the receipt and carry it with you or show it on your phone.

In addition to having a receipt for a CDC Dog Import Form, remember that the dog you bring:

must appear healthy upon arrival.
must be at least 6 months old at time of entry or return to the U.S.
must have a microchip that can be detected with a universal scanner to identify them.
