Places of interest
Mexico is a wonderful country, caught between two oceans and with a wealth of mountains, forests and deserts. The must sees include Mexico City, with its Constitution Square (El Zocalo), Chapultepec castle, Cathedral, Palace of Fine Arts, murals by Diego Rivera and the "Blue House", Frida Kahlo's residence. Located just 50 kilometres from the capital, Teotihuacan is one of the most evocative archaeological sites in the world, and is famous above all for the pyramid of the sun. Further south, however, some of the most fascinating places in the country are concentrated in the Yucatan peninsula and in the state of Chiapas, including Palenque, Uxmal and Chichen Itza.
Best beaches
Those who love the sea can check out Puerto Escondido, a surfer's paradise, Tulum, a Mayan site lapped by a sea that is fantastic to say the least, Cabo San Lucas, with its spectacular rock formations, or Puerto Vallarta, which combines history and modernity.
