Nosy Be

How to get around

Direct flights to Nosy Be land at Nosy Be-Fascene Airport. You can move around Nosy Be easily on foot. The island is in fact very small in size and every point is easily accessible. Taxis, at very cheap rates, are a valid alternative. To try a typical mode of transport, even just to move around the island, you must try the charming tuk-tuks, small agile and fast vehicles similar to the Italian 'Ape' car with three wheels.

Places of interest

Any visit to Nosy Be begins with Nosy Sakatia, a small island off the island, ideal for hikers. The town of Hell-Ville is the capital, featuring buildings in a purely colonial style. The town owes its name to Admiral de Hell (former governor of Reunion). The Sakalava and Antankarana Museum explores the tribes that lived in the past in Madagascar, while Dzamandzar contains a sugar cane plant.

Best beaches

Among the most beautiful beaches on the island, Andilana deserves a special mention, situated in the homonymous bay and characterised by crystal clear waters and white sand. You only need to cross a couple of bamboo forests to reach Amporaha, where you can snorkel and dive at the beaches of Nosy Komba, Nosy Mitsio and Nosy Iranja. Although it isn't a beach, the picturesque Ampasindava waterfall, immersed in the forest, is among the places not to be missed!
