The carriage of pets must meet certain basic conditions and comply with animal protection law and import and export regulations of the relevant countries. Pet animals mean only and exclusively dogs, cats and ferrets. All other species, such as wild animals, reptiles and rodents may only be transported by cargo.
NECESSARY REQUIREMENTS
- the cage used for transporting pets in the cabin can be either rigid or soft, as long as it is approved. It should have a waterproof bottom, good ventilation, and should not be able to be opened from the inside. The size of the cage should be suitable to ensure the comfort of the animal, with dimensions complying with the maximum measurements allowed according to the IATA standard: 48cmx35cmx29cm) Only 1 pet allowed per passenger.
- the cage for transport in the hold must be rigid. It should have a waterproof bottom, good ventilation, and should not be able to be opened from the inside. The size of the cage should be suitable to ensure the comfort of the animal (maximum measurements allowed for loading through the opening of the aircraft hold 100cmx85cmx75cm).
- the animal's health booklet must be presented during check-in. Prior to your trip, it is important to gather information about the necessary veterinary certificates and vaccinations for your destination. Additionally, within the European Union, dogs, cats, and ferrets must have a health passport in order to travel between EU countries. This document must include the personal data of the animal, a photograph and detailed information about the requirements for rabies vaccination certification and any other relevant information.
ATTENTION: the cages for the carriage of animals in the hold and cabin must be IATA approved. Staff at check-in will carry out a thorough check that all safety requirements are met. Otherwise, the carriage of the animal may be denied.
The cost for boarding animals is as follows: €100 for each animal in the cabin (maximum weight of 10 kg, including the cage) and €200 for each animal in the hold. You can purchase this service either during the booking process or by accessing the "MY BOOKING" section up to 48 hours before your flight. INDICATIONS FOR THE CARRIAGE OF POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS DOGS AND ANIMALS WITH SNUB NOSES
The following breeds are considered to be potentially dangerous dogs: American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull, Argentinean Fighting Dog, Argentinean Mastiff, Brazilian Fighting Dog, Brazilian Mastiff, Fila Brasileiro, Japanese Tosas, Pit Bull Terriers, Toga Argentinos, Tosa Inu, Tosa Fighting Dog, Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Brachycephalic breeds (with a snubbed nose) experience high risk of respiratory and heat issues when being carried by air, due to the strain of flying. Therefore, these pets can only travel in the cabin, as long as they weigh no more than 10 kg, including their carrier. Additionally, they must not be on the list of completely prohibited breeds.
