How to get around

Direct flights to Skiathos land at Alexandros Papadiamantis airport. Taxis are the most common means of transport used to travel from Skiathos airport to the city centre or other destinations. The cheapest alternative in monetary terms, albeit more time-consuming, is the minibus service, also present at the main exits of the airport.

Places of interest

One of the first things to see in Skiathos is the capital, a modern resort full of attractions and interesting activities for tourists. The walk to the port is unmissable, surrounded by small islets it is the perfect place to take unforgettable photographs. Other places worth visiting include Agios Alexandros, an interesting Orthodox church, and the Clock Tower connected to a church which offers a breathtaking view if you are brave enough to undertake the long climb up its many steps.

Best beaches

Skiathos boasts 60 beaches, each one more beautiful than the next. One of the best is Koukounariés beach, located in the south-eastern part. The pine groves, where the needles almost touch the water make this beach particularly famous and offer a unique panorama. You can also rent a boat or practice various water sports on this beach. Another of the best beaches is Meyáli Ámmos, where the crystal clear water makes it one of the favourite destinations among tourists.

Typical bars and restaurants

Bars that are located in the city centre are a great solution for those who want to sip a drink in a peaceful venue after spending a day at the beach. An excellent restaurant where visitors can find and taste traditional cuisine is the Agnantio Tavern, renowned for its tasty homemade dishes that are prepared with care every day.
