LIQUIDS ON BOARD

Only small quantities of liquids are permitted in hand luggage. Liquids must be contained in containers with a maximum capacity of 100 millilitres (1/10 of a litre) or equivalent (e.g.: 100 grams). These containers should be placed in a clear plastic bag that can be sealed and has a maximum capacity of 1 litre. For example, the bag should measure approximately 18 x 20 cm). You should be able to close the bag with its contents, meaning that the containers should fit inside easily. Each passenger, including infants, are only allowed to carry just plastic bag of the specified size. Medicines and liquids prescribed for dietary purposes, including baby foods, to be used during the journey may be carried on board without needing to be placed in a clear plastic bag. There are no specific restrictions on the volume of these items. However, you may be asked to demonstrate why they are necessary. Medicines needed during the flight must be accompanied by a prescription.

 

Liquids include: water and other beverages, soups, syrups, creams, lotions, oils, perfumes, sprays, gels (including hair and shower gels), contents of pressurised containers, including shaving foams, other foams and deodorants, pastes, including toothpaste, mixtures of liquids and solids, mascara.

 

Within your carry-on baggage, you are allowed to bring medicines and dietary products, including baby food. However, you may have to limit the amount to that necessary for your flight. You may have to provide evidence to support your actual need and the authenticity of such items.

It is possible to purchase liquids, such as beverages and perfumes, in shops located beyond the security checkpoints, as well as in Duty Free stores and on board European Union Airlines, as long as you keep the proof of purchase. The products you buy at Duty Free and on board the aircraft will be delivered in sealed bags. We recommend not opening them until you reach your final destination. Otherwise, the liquids purchased could be seized at security checks when passing through any intermediate airports.

You can place containers with liquids in your checked baggage, since the new rules only apply to carry-on luggage.
