What to visit in Lagos
Lagos is one of the largest and most influential cities in Africa, as well as one of the most populated (there are about 25 million people), and it has plenty to offer its visitors. There are many things to see in Lagos to deepen your knowledge of the city. One of the top things to see there is the Victoria Island neighborhood which is home to some of the city's must-see attractions, such as the Nike Art Gallery, an art center that displays works by contemporary Nigerian artists. Lagos Island is famous for the Balogun Market, one of the largest and liveliest outdoor markets in the country. Here you can find everything from clothing to handicrafts by local artists. You can't miss a visit to the National Theatre, an impressive building that hosts plays, concerts, and art exhibitions. Freedom Park is a historic site transformed into a cultural and arts park, where you can relax and attend outdoor cultural events. Tarkwa Bay beach is a great place to relax and enjoy the sea in the area, with its calm waters and relaxed atmosphere. Outside the centre of Lagos there are still many things to see such as, for example, the Lekki Conservation Centre reserve: a protected area where you can see the local fauna and flora up close.
