How to get around

Flights to Hurghada land at Hurghada International Airport, located about 10 kilometres from the city centre. To reach the Egyptian seaside city you can request a taxi or rent a car, arriving at your destination in about 20 minutes. There is also a convenient minibus service, where rides commence once the seats have been filled, without observing very precise timetables.

Places of interest

Visitors who love snorkelling must visit the beautiful Giftun Island, characterised by picturesque coral reefs. The historic El Dahar district is interesting, with numerous souvenir shops where you'll need to bargain the price to make your purchase. The Sekala area is concentrated on a collection of charming hotels, while the islet of Gota Abu Ramada also deserves a mention.

Best beaches

Among the most beautiful beaches, Mangroovy Beach is a great choice for practising various aquatic sports. Sharm El Naga beach is purely sandy and is located about ten kilometres from the centre of Hurghada, but it is well worth the taxi ride. The aforementioned Giftun Island isn't bad either, featuring a natural landscape guaranteed to leave every tourist in awe.

Typical bars and restaurants

Typical restaurants take on great importance in Hurghada. For example, Mustarda is characterised by an exciting grilled chicken sandwich. The Joker restaurant is perfect for those who love seafood dishes, while Al Masri is well known to visitors thanks to its lamb chops and beef steaks. Finally, Abu Khalig is a fantastic choice for an alternative meal.
